Hello World!
It seemed appropriate to start with “hello world” since this is a new incarnation of havahula.org (v5.0). I’m doing this as I leave behind my consulting practice for a new DC-based start-up that will focus on large format data visualizations (web 3.0 stuff — tell your friends). And while there’s more that will be said about this in the coming months, for now it’s just “hello” and a redesign of this site.
As for the redesign, you’re looking at it! It’s main focal point is a blog, which I am thinking of as a framework for understanding the concept of what I am calling “evolutionary technology” or, “how the current technology explosion is shaping our evolution as a species.” If that doesn’t quite sit well with you, then you can just call it a “blog,” and, I hope, still find value at the end of the day. Whatever works.
One thing I am shooting for; a rule of three. In general, entries should only be three paragraphs max — if an idea can’t be clearly articulated in that span then I’m not working hard enough for clarity. When possible, I’ll find some other way to communicate. Maybe a visualization or a photograph. Regardless, I hope you’ll think about subscribing via email, RSS or, the occasional tweet!

Evolution? Will this site help me grow flippers? Or can my grandchildren at least have flippers?
Best of luck! Sounds exciting.
Thanks, Jeremie! And yes, Shawna, your grandchildren will have cybernetic flippers lovingly crafted in Cupertino, which will be a roving deathstar-like satellite that sends happy beams out to the universe.
